NZARE Math/Stat Education SIG Day Conference
The NZARE Mathematics and Statistics/Pāngarau Education SIG is once again hosting a day conference, building on the momentum from last year’s Day Conference in New Plymouth.
The Day Conference will take place at the University of Auckland Epsom Campus on Friday 6th October, approx. 8.30am-4pm. Note that the NZAMT Conference is in Whangārei, 3-5 October. We know that some of you will be interested in attending both events.
Conference Theme
The Conference theme is: Ānō me he whare pūngāwerewere. Behold, it is like the web of a spider.
According to the refreshed purpose statement for Mathematics and Statistics:
This whakataukī celebrates intricacy, complexity, interconnectedness, and strength. The learning area of mathematics and statistics weaves together the effort and creativity of many cultures that over time have used mathematical and statistical ideas to understand their world.
Keynote Speaker
We are thrilled to announce that Dr Naomi Ingram and Julia Crawford from Cognition Education have agreed to be our keynote speakers. Dr Ingram is a Senior Lecturer and Associate Dean of Initial Teacher Education at the Otago University College of Education.
