Teacher Accountability: A Discussion with UK Education Researcher Loic Menzies

The NZARE Policy SIG invites you to a talk with Loic Menzies, the author of a recent paper published by the UK’s Institute of Public Policy Research on teacher accountability. The paper, titled "Improvement through empowerment: Helping our teachers and schools be the best they can be," is a valuable contribution to the policy literature on school improvement, advocating for a move away from a top-down approach, including a significant reshaping of OFSTED’s role. Loic is in New Zealand to research policy practices and local understanding of teacher accountability. This event will be a dialogue about the paper and wider issues, providing an opportunity for reflections on practices in Aotearoa. Educators, activists, researchers, academics, and policymakers will find this discussion interesting.
